In 2007, the Department of Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs (DIMIA) was replaced by the Department of Immigration & Citizenship (DIAC).  The DIAC is responsible for immigration, border control, citizenship, ethnic and multi-cultural affairs.
